About Wordsearch Puzzles

FindaWord, or Word search puzzles have a hidden mystery answer. The words may be placed horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Cross off the listed words and the leftover letters will reveal an interesting or amusing answer related to the puzzle’s theme.

The word search puzzle (also known as WordSeek, WordFind, FindaWord, WonderWord, etc.) was originally designed and published by Norman E. Gibat in the Selenby Digest on March 1, 1968, in Norman, Oklahoma, although the Spanish puzzle creator Pedro Ocón de Oro was publishing “Sopas de letras” (Spanish “Soup of Letters”) before that date.

How to play Lovatts Wordsearch Puzzle

Getting started:
Depending on your device and its orientation, you can find the word list conveniently placed on either side of the grid for desktop or landscape screens or at the bottom for those using a mobile device in a portrait mode. Find all the words from the themed word list within the puzzle grid. Keep in mind that words can be hidden in various directions: forwards, backwards, upwards, downwards, or diagonally.

As you find a word within the grid, simply click/tap and drag your cursor or finger from one end of the word to the other. If your selection is correct, the word will be highlighted in the grid and crossed off the word list.

Once you’ve successfully completed the Wordsearch puzzle, a results panel will automatically be displayed, providing you with your puzzle-play information such as your total solve time, number of hints used, and your best time recorded over time. For the most accurate and consistent results, we recommend sticking to the same device when playing the puzzle.

The clues:
The clue panel position changes depending on the device you are using and its orientation. When playing on a desktop and laptop screen, the clue panel is located on either side of the crossword grid. For mobile or tablet devices, it will appear below the crossword grid. Scroll through the Clue Panel to view the complete list.

About Puzzle Modes: Quick vs Challenge

Puzzle Modes: Quick vs Challenge
Quick Mode:
In Quick Mode, you’ll benefit from a Hint feature that assists you by revealing letters or words as you progress through solving the Wordsearch puzzle.
Challenge Mode:
In Challenge Mode, the Hint feature is disabled to provide a more challenging Wordsearch-solving experience.

Switching modes: To switch between Quick and Challenge modes while solving the puzzle, simply click/tap the Menu button and select Main Menu. Once there, you can re-enter the puzzle in the same or alternate mode and resume solving it from where you previously left off.

Using Hints

Click/Tap the Hints button in the top menu bar to reveal Letter or Word hint options.
Letter Hints:
Click/Tap on the letter icon then choose any word from the Wordsearch word list. Once selected, all locations of the first letter of that word will be revealed across the grid. For example, if you were to select the word “BALL”, all occurrences of the letter “B” within the grid will be highlighted.

Word Hints:

Click/Tap on the Word icon to highlight an entire word in the grid at random.

Timer

The Timer, indicated by the clock icon, begins counting as soon as you begin the Wordsearch puzzle. If you prefer a leisurely pace without the use of a Timer, you can adjust its visibility in the Wordsearch Menu. To do this, simply, click/tap on the Menu button, navigate to the menu options, and use the toggle next to Show Timer to either hide the Timer (toggle turns grey) or restore its visibility (toggle turns green).

Pause

To pause during play, click/tap the pause icon. Click/Tap Resume Puzzle when you wish to restart play.

Reset

To clear the grid and restart the puzzle and Timer, click/tap Menu and then select Reset Puzzle.

Completion

Once you’ve successfully completed the Wordsearch puzzle, a results panel will automatically be displayed, providing you with your puzzle-play information.

Solve Time: This shows the precise duration spent solving the puzzle, from start to finish.
Hints used: Shows the overall count of letters that were revealed while you were solving the puzzle. When using the word hint, the number of letters revealed in the target word (excluding letters from intersecting words) is added to the total letter hint count. Each revealed letter contributes an additional 5 seconds to the Total Time, while each revealed word adds an extra 15 seconds to the Total Time.
Total Time: The Total Time is calculated by adding the Solve Time and the Hint time extensions.
Your Best Time: This value showcases the most optimal time you’ve ever recorded for that specific puzzle type and mode (quick versus challenge). It’s important to note that your best time might vary if you play the puzzle on different devices. For the most accurate and consistent results, we recommend sticking to the same device when playing the puzzle.
