How to enter the Enigma Crossword Competition

To be in the running to win the AUD$100 Visa gift card, you must solve our Enigma Crossword puzzle with 100% accuracy. Upon successful completion, simple select the ‘Enter Competition’ button to display the competition entry form within the puzzle frame. Enter and submit your name and email address details (so we can contact you if you’re our lucky winner) and you’ll be in the running to win our cash prize!

Where’s the Competition Entry Form?

Should the competition entry screen fail to appear following input of the last letter in the grid, it’s likely you’ve made a boo-boo and will need to revisit some of the clues and answers you’ve provided. The entry form will only appear if you’ve solve the Enigma Crossword puzzle with 100% accuracy. Look for letters or boxes within the grid NOT highlighted in green.

If you suspect a technical glitch or gremlin is preventing you from completing the puzzle, we recommend you take a screenshot by pressing your Ctrl + ‘Prt Scr’ buttons simultaneously (instructions relate to Windows Users only. Check documentation online for Mac and other devices) and upload the images via our Report an Issue button below or paste the result into an email directed to our online editor: webdev@lovattsmedia.com. We promise to get back to you asap during business hours with a response and to notify you we’ve submitted your competition entry on your behalf.

Getting started:
To get started, click/tap on the first square of a word-space within the crossword grid. Once selected, you’ll notice that both the word-space and its corresponding clue are highlighted, making it easy to keep track. Use your keyboard or device keypad to type in the answer.

To quickly toggle the word direction from Across to Down, or vice versa, either click/tap on the active square cell or press the Shift key on your keyboard. Click/Tap on any clue in the Clue Panel to highlight the corresponding word-space in the grid.

The clues:
The clue panel position changes depending on the device you are using and its orientation. When playing on a desktop and laptop screen, the clue panel is located on either side of the crossword grid. For mobile or tablet devices, it will appear below the crossword grid. Scroll through the Clue Panel to view the complete list.

Enigma Crossword Keyboard Shortcuts

Move about our Enigma Crossword grid with ease by using these keyboard shortcuts:

• Tab, Space or Enter moves the active square cell to the next clue
• Shift allows you to quickly switch between Across and Down directions
• Arrow keys move the active square cell by one in the corresponding direction of the arrow key selected
• Delete or Back space will delete the letter entered into the active square cell

Delete/Change Letter
Click/Tap on the letter you wish to delete. Once the square cell is highlighted, you can either use the Backspace key to delete the letter or simply type in the new letter you desire.

Timer
The Timer, indicated by the clock icon, begins counting as soon as you begin the crossword. If you prefer a leisurely pace without the Timer, you can adjust its visibility in the crossword Menu. To do this, simply, click/tap on the Menu button, locate the Time and use the toggle to either hide the Timer (toggle turns grey) or restore its visibility (toggle turns green).

Pause
To pause during play, click/tap the pause icon. Click/Tap Resume Puzzle when you wish to restart play.

Reset
To clear the grid and restart the puzzle and Timer, click/tap Menu and then select Reset Puzzle.

Completion

Click/tap Continue to show the Scorecard with your time, rank and RETURN option so you can play again.

Competition is open to residents of Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom only.

A new competition commences on the first day of each month and concludes midnight on the last day. Puzzles are updated daily with entry into the competition limited to once per day. To enter, simply select the ‘Enter Competition’ button when you’ve finished the puzzle, register your details and you’re in the running.
